Musicians are sick of their songs used for politics

The main issue is with branding as most artists and their listeners have a left-bent in their political leanings. To a layer of gravitas, if political candidates use songs to enact violence it is a misappropriation of art. Although a recent development due to the controversy with Trump such as the Rolling Stone’s 1968 hit “You Can’t Get What You Want”, it calls into question if an artist’s work is always meant to be in context and how it is is interpreted among their ownership rights.
